Canada's Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson demonstrated an impressive display of skill and determination by securing the gold medal at the Ostrava Elite on the 2026 Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour. This remarkable achievement represents their first gold finish at this prestigious event in Czechia, following a bronze in 2023 and a silver in 2024. The victory contributes to their international accolades, marking their eighth podium finish and fourth gold medal on the Beach Pro Tour.
Their journey to securing gold was not without challenges. Humana-Paredes and Wilkerson rebounded from a pool phase loss to the USA’s Corinne Quiggle and Chloe Loreen by advancing on superior point ratios. Their strength was evident in most matches, including a decisive 2-0 victory in the finals against the Netherlands’ highly-ranked Katja Stam and Raisa Schoon. This win continues their strong start to the season, having previously reached the finals at the Saquarema Elite earlier in 2026.
Stam and Schoon, experienced competitors and former world number ones, claimed silver after succumbing to the Canadians. Meanwhile, Brazil’s Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes earned the bronze, marking their ninth podium finish on the Beach Pro Tour.
The Ostrava Elite featured 32 women's teams from 15 countries, showcasing top beach volleyball talent. The next Elite stop on the Beach Pro Tour is in Gstaad, Switzerland, from July 1 to 5, promising another exciting chapter in the 2026 beach volleyball season.
