Japan’s Ren Matsumoto and Non Matsumoto have celebrated a milestone victory in their beach volleyball careers by capturing their first Beach Pro Tour gold medal at the Qidong Futures event in China. Entering the tournament as the second seed, the Japanese pair showcased stellar skill and composure throughout the competition, not dropping a single set until the final.
In a tightly fought championship match, they emerged victorious over Hungary’s Stefania Kun and Lilla Villam, with set scores of 21-19, 26-28, 15-13. This win follows their two silver medals from the Songkhla Futures and marks their long-anticipated elevation to the top of the podium.
The bronze medal match saw Brazil’s Quemile Vieira de Souza and Emanuely Pereira Cardoso defeat Australia’s Caitlin Bettenay and Cassandra Dodd in another close battle, finishing 21-16, 17-21, 16-14. The result represents the Brazilian duo’s second podium appearance on the Tour.
Men’s Results
On the men’s side, Belgium’s Kyan Vercauteren and Joppe Van Langendonck extended their unbeaten streak at the international level. They clinched the title with a 2-1 win over Brazil’s Mateus Rodrigues and Vilsomar Brito (21-16, 18-21, 15-6), cementing their reputation as rising talents.
England’s Frederick Bialokoz and Issa Batrane took bronze by defeating Indonesia’s Bintang Akbar and Sofyan Rachman Efendi in straight sets.
