Swedish Duo Dominates at Baden Challenge, Overcoming Olympic Medalists

Jakob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson of Sweden have captured their second Beach Pro Tour title of the 2025 season at the Baden Challenge in Austria. Their commanding performance came in the form of a straight-sets victory (21-18, 21-16) against Germany's Olympic silver medallists Nils Ehlers and Clemens Wickler during Sunday’s final.

Despite their youth—only 20 and 19 years old—the Swedish duo displayed remarkable poise, finishing the tournament undefeated in six matches and dropping only two sets throughout the event held at Thermalstrandbad Baden.

This title adds to their growing list of accolades on the Beach Pro Tour, now totaling three Challenge-level championships, including wins in Chennai and Nuvali in 2024. Their 2025 campaign has also seen them take gold at the Malmö Futures and silver at the Gstaad Elite.

All-European Podium

The podium in Baden was entirely European, with France’s Rémi Bassereau and Calvin Aye earning bronze—their first medal as a team. They overcame Americans Chase Budinger and Miles Evans in a tight three-set match (16-21, 21-17, 15-10).

Looking Ahead

The Baden Challenge is part of the 2025 Beach Pro Tour and precedes the sixth Elite tournament, which is set to take place next week in Montreal, Canada. The Swedish pair’s strong and consistent performances place them solidly among the season’s standout teams and point toward a promising future on the international stage, including potential Olympic contention.
