Two young beach volleyball pairs have made their debut in the top 10 of the FIVB World Rankings following impressive performances at the Gstaad Elite16 stop of the Beach Pro Tour.
Rising Stars in the Spotlight
Sweden's Jacob Holting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson, aged just 20 and 19, stunned the competition by jumping seven places to reach the men’s No. 10 spot. Starting from the qualification rounds, the duo earned a silver medal and a personal-best 1,100 points in Gstaad, bringing their total to 4,880.
In the women’s division, home favorites Anouk and Zoe Verge-Depre of Switzerland delighted the Gstaad crowd by winning bronze. Their performance launched them up 11 positions into the top 10, with a current total of 4,392 points from seven events.
Movement in the Global Rankings
- Qatar’s Cherif Younousse and Ahmed Tijan returned to the men's top five after capturing gold.
- The Netherlands’ Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot climbed to No. 3 following a bronze medal finish.
- Norway’s Anders Mol and Christian Sorum maintain their dominance at the top of the men’s rankings.
Despite successfully defending their title in Gstaad, Americans Kristen Nuss and Taryn Brasher dropped to No. 7 due to the expiration of last year’s ranking points.
Women’s Rankings Still Hotly Contested
- Brazil’s Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes remain firmly in the No. 1 female team position.
- Teams from the USA, Germany, and Austria continue to stay close in the rankings, indicating a tightly contested women’s field.
