Olympic champions Eduarda “Duda” Lisboa and Ana Patrícia Ramos continue to impress, fighting through two tough matches to secure a spot in the Beach Pro Tour Elite16 quarterfinals in Saquarema, Brazil.
Despite dropping the first set in both matches, the Brazilian pair rallied with determination:
- Defeated French duo Clémence Vieira and Aline Chamereau 2-1 (19-21, 21-15, 15-6) in the Round of 18
- Overcame Americans Terese Cannon and Megan Kraft 2-1 (18-21, 21-15, 15-12) in the Round of 12
They now face a challenging quarterfinal matchup against Germany's Cinja Tillmann and Svenja Müller, the top-ranked pair in the FIVB World Rankings.
Meanwhile, two Brazilian teams lost in the Round of 12 but earned a second chance as “lucky losers”:
- Thamela Coradello and Victoria Lopes will attempt redemption against Latvian Olympians Tina Graudina and Anastasija Samoilova
- Cannon and Kraft remain in contention with a match against fellow Americans Kristen Nuss and Taryn Brasher
Notably, Italy's Valentina Gottardi and Reka Orsi Toth showed impressive form, sweeping two home teams and setting up a quarterfinal clash with Americans Kelly Cheng and Molly Shaw, who triumphed in a tight three-setter against Canada’s Melissa Humana-Paredes and Brandie Wilkerson.
The competition intensifies with quarterfinals and semifinals scheduled for Saturday, and medal matches on Sunday.
