Pacific Mini Games Ignite Excitement with FIVB Support for Beach Volleyball

The 2025 Pacific Mini Games, scheduled to be held in Palau from June 29 to July 9, will place a major spotlight on beach volleyball, thanks to the robust backing of the FIVB Volleyball Empowerment program. This year’s edition will showcase over 1,500 athletes from 24 nations competing in 14 sports, with indoor and beach volleyball standing out as significant highlights.

The beach volleyball tournament is set to commence on July 2 and conclude with medal matches on July 8. Featuring 16 men’s teams and 14 women’s teams from 19 national federations, the event is seen as an inaugural international platform for many of the players involved.

Empowered by the FIVB, a remarkable USD 2.83 million has been invested into 19 national federations within Oceania's volleyball community. This funding addresses key developmental areas such as:

  • Provision of high-quality equipment
  • Support for coaching and training initiatives
  • Development of refereeing capabilities

The host nation, Palau, has already benefited from over USD 168,000 allocated toward improving training facilities and athlete preparation. Additionally, to ensure world-class standards, the FIVB has supplied international-grade gear including:

  • Gerflor court surfaces
  • Professional nets
  • Official game balls

Held against the backdrop of Palau’s ocean vistas, the beach volleyball competition is expected to produce standout performances while boosting the Pacific region’s emerging presence in global volleyball. This initiative exemplifies the continuing commitment of the FIVB to elevate the sport in developing regions.
