Japanese beach volleyball duo Ren Matsumoto and Non Matsumoto secured their second consecutive gold medal on the Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour with a standout performance at the 2025 Busan Gwangalli Futures in South Korea.
Following their triumph at the Qidong Futures in June, the pair powered through the tournament with four straight-set victories leading up to the final. In the championship match, they demonstrated resilience by overcoming a first set defeat to beat Norway’s Nina Pavlova and Sunniva Helland-Hansen in three sets (17-21, 21-9, 15-11).
Their championship victory includes:
- Second straight gold medal on the Pro Tour
- One lost set across the entire tournament
- Ongoing momentum with two previous silver medal finishes
Norwegian duo Pavlova & Helland-Hansen earned a well-deserved silver medal—their first podium appearance—after taking out Vanuatu’s Majabelle Lawac and Sherysyn Toko in the semifinals (21-15, 22-20), despite a pool play loss earlier in the tournament.
In the bronze medal match, Czech players Anna Pospisilova and Daniela Mokra delivered a tight 2-1 win over Lawac & Toko (21-16, 18-21, 16-14), marking their first time on the podium as a team.
The Busan Gwangalli Futures event featured 25 teams from nine different countries, underscoring the dynamic and growing level of competition on the beach volleyball circuit. The Tour next heads to:
- Bujumbura, Burundi — August 20–23
- Brno, Czechia — August 21–24
