Swedish beach volleyball stars Jacob Hölting Nilsson and Elmer Andersson are set to make a significant impact at the Beach Pro Tour Montréal Elite. They are building on their recent success at the European Championship. Following their win in Stare Jabłonki, Poland, this Swedish duo is eager to continue their winning streak in Montreal. Their victory not only secured a spot for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics but also reinforced their leading position in the FIVB World Rankings.
The Montréal Elite event marks the eighth and final Elite16 competition on the 2026 Beach Pro Tour calendar. The duo aims to return to the podium after facing earlier challenges on the tour, subsequent to their gold medal in Brasília Elite in April. Despite achieving ninth place in Ostrava and fifth in both Gstaad and Hamburg, they remain optimistic for better results in Montréal, especially after claiming silver there last year.
Norwegian great Anders Mol will also be competing, and plans to temporarily switch to indoor volleyball in Italy. Together with Christian Sørum, he aspires to secure a third consecutive victory in Montréal. Other top contenders include the Latvian duo, Martins Plavins/Kristians Fokerots, and Brazil's Evandro Gonçalves/Arthur Lanci, who hold the second and third spots in the FIVB rankings.
The tournament kicks off with men’s qualifiers on Wednesday, leading into the main draw starting Thursday. Teams are divided into four pools, with pool winners advancing directly to the quarterfinals. Others will compete in the Round of 12 on Saturday, culminating in semifinals and medal matches on Sunday.
